I have so many things I need to do, I keep stopping myself to remind myself not to worry about stupid crap... when the hell did I become suzy freakin' homemaker anyways?!

haha pinkpixies7 is going to be visiting me this Friday... haven't cleaned and I can't afford much in the ways of food or drink... any ideas, Faith? lol

normally I have people over and we treat to a nice big meal, whatever... snacks, drinks, the works!

my house is also not cleaned or organized, lol. (well by MY standards it's not... but I always feel like our carpet is dirty cause it's a billion years old and I hate it.)

so, ummmm... yes... be that a warning for you!! hahaha

I can say I have plenty of movies and a digital camera, so I know we will have fun no matter what! we may just be starving artists... since when has that ever really changed?

finished my taxes... that was pure hell... still is. Due to a screw up on behalf of the company I formerly worked for. (Seriously, f*ck the Marriott in Hunt Valley... why I ever went back there is beyond me. Even if I was desperate for a job at the time...) They sent part of my state taxes to MD instead of PA. Had I caught on sooner it would have been less of an issue... but still would have been a problem. I had to pay for an extra addition to my turbotax program, which was uber expensive this year as it was. Plus, since PA taxes more I owe them MORE than I am getting back from MD. This seriously pisses me off too. The icing on the cake though is that because I am an idiot and it took me so long to get this all situated and put in, my taxes due to PA are scheduled to be taken out on the 15th of April... I then received an email saying they believe I should receive my payment from MD on the 17th of April...

How am I going to be able to give them $711.00 on the 15th when I only get paid $800.00 on the 10th and have more than $89.00 worth of bills to pay before these dates come to pass!

Not only that, but because I made less last year than I did the year before that I am getting back a whopping $600 less...

I'm a little depressed & freaked out right now.

Italian surprise?

My mother just left for Italy and she will be at the hotel on Sunday evening... I have been trying to find a place online where I can order a pinot or white wine & cheese to her room... this is damn near impossible! I found sites, but they only offer reds or champagnes.

Now I'm irritated.

Out for a walk...

Ivey and I decided to go for a walk yesterday... it was supposed to be about a 20 minute walk... we went up north of where we live a little ways and decided to keep going a little longer. We had a good hour before it started getting dark. We left around 7pm.

So then we heard this deafening noise, it was the frogs near the pond & stream behind Rhemeyers Hollow. I really wanted to see it, plus Ivey was certain that the road would have to put us back up on the main road... the opposite direction of where we came from, but we would know how to get home. So we got there and it was awesome! Tiny little frogs hopping all over the road... one landed on my shoe. I let him sit there until Ivey said we had to move along. It was very nice, I'll have to go by there again with my camera... but I didn't even carry my cell phone along for this trip.

We pass the little Antique shop which has a sign off the main road. We must be close! We get to the end and there is a stop sign with two options... left or right. Well, there is no road sign... so we chance it and go right... next thing you know there's another cross in the road... we go left onto "White Oak" road... we didn't know where this was! Needless to say... we are completely lost!

Finally we get to the end of that road and go right - towards the only civilization we've seen... moving cars... well, that was the wrong way too! We wound up about 2-3 miles away from home in the opposite direction. Ivey's battery on his phone was low... but he still managed to call his mother to come pick us up... HA! What a pair we are... So at 8:30pm Ivey's mom picked us up. We were exhausted.

All I had to say was thank goodness it wasn't the day before or else she might have thought we were pranking her and hung up...

Also, I am grateful for Tiger Balm. My tendinitis was really killing me when we got home!

I feel accomplished! I changed my name back to Purekitte... part of me misses some of my memory posts... but there were quite a few there that I wouldn't have wanted also... I guess I can always go back into my old account and transfer old posts that I actually want to keep onto this account. Looking back is hard & time consuming sometimes!

*sighs*

I miss the good old days of livejournal and keeping in touch with people I care about.

At least I realize that I am not the only one who dropped off the lj earth! I was looking back at friends too, to make sure I was updating and putting everyone on here... most people seem to have dropped off since around 2003-2004. I think that's when I disappeared the most too.

But I'm back now... glad to be. I enjoy being able to read about events in my friends lives and it's nice to be able to read back on my own. Even if it's painful sometimes... other times are good! Either way, these are things I don't necessarily want to forget.

If you were in trouble or ran afoul of the law, which fictional detective or investigator—from tv, movies, or books—would you want to help you?

Well... I guess I would choose Dexter... because most likely I would have killed someone and Dex knows how to cover all that up for sure!!!

Dexter is from the books by Jeff Lindsay, also a series on Showtime.

I'm still raising funds for the March of Dimes... Lately I've been thinking more and more about my lost little boy. He would be approaching 2 years this June had he been given his full 9 months and survived.

Below is the original story of what happened... posted back in February of 2007...

April Fool's Day History

The history of April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day is uncertain, but the current thinking is that it began around 1582 in France with the reform of the calendar under Charles IX. The Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved from March 25 - April 1 (new year's week) to January 1.

Communication traveled slowly in those days and some people were only informed of the change several years later. Still others, who were more rebellious refused to acknowledge the change and continued to celebrate on the last day of the former celebration, April 1. These people were labeled "fools" by the general populace, were subject to ridicule and sent on "fool errands," sent invitations to nonexistent parties and had other practical jokes played upon them. The butts of these pranks became known as a "poisson d'avril" or "April fish" because a young naive fish is easily caught. In addition, one common practice was to hook a paper fish on the back of someone as a joke.

This harassment evolved over time and a custom of prank-playing continue on the first day of April. This tradition eventually spread elsewhere like to Britain and Scotland in the 18th century and was introduced to the American colonies by the English and the French. Because of this spread to other countries, April Fool's Day has taken on an international flavor with each country celebrating the holiday in its own way.

In Scotland, for instance, April Fool's Day is devoted to spoofs involving the buttocks and as such is called Taily Day. The butts of these jokes are known as April 'Gowk', another name for cuckoo bird. The origins of the "Kick Me" sign can be traced back to the Scottish observance.

In England, jokes are played only in the morning. Fools are called 'gobs' or 'gobby' and the victim of a joke is called a 'noodle.' It was considered back luck to play a practical joke on someone after noon.

In Rome, the holiday is known as Festival of Hilaria, celebrating the resurrection of the god Attis, is on March 25 and is also referred to as "Roman Laughing Day."

In Portugal, April Fool's Day falls on the Sunday and Monday before lent. In this celebration, many people throw flour at their friends.

The Huli Festival is celebrated on March 31 in India. People play jokes on one another and smear colors on one another celebrating the arrival of Spring.

So, no matter where you happen to be in the world on April 1, don't be surprised if April fools fall playfully upon you.

(I swapped all of my co-worker's desktop picture frames & her mouse to opposite sides of her desk... it momentarily threw her off guard in the confusion when she first arrived to work... hehe Nothing big... but JUST enough to start her day off...)
